In 2015, a family situation created the opportunity to help one young man and then another as they returned to the community after being incarcerated. A routine of Sunday breakfast with these young men followed by church began to grow as several others joined the group. This became an organization. Celebrate Freedom was founded on the premise that freedom after prison was to be celebrated in a responsible way as each person began the journey of returning to community life. One-on- one relationships were developed to provide support, direction, a safe accountability person to relate to in the community and help find safe housing.
In 2020, Celebrate Freedom became a nonprofit organization. Celebrate Freedom has worked with over 290 persons both male and female. We work to strengthen each one's resolve to remain free not only being out of prison but free psychologically, free of old habits and haunts, free of addictions, and free to grow emotionally and spiritually.
Celebrate Freedom is a faith based nonprofit whose mission is to promote a healthy productive life in relationship to the community by working with each person one-on-one to develop strengths and disciplines in each person's life that will determine new directions in their lives. Celebrate Freedom uses biblical principles to demonstrate a well balanced life tending not only to the physical aspect but the spiritual aspect as well. Our objective is to help individuals relate to others in an appropriate manner, learning to trust, and yet, be aware of those who do not want the person to be successful.
We provide a therapeutic community in which each person transitioning from a halfway house, treatment center, or who are struggling to living in the community are welcome. We provide positive relationships with others who have been in the same situation yet are successfully living in the community. Each person has access to people who want to provide friendship and positive encouragement any time of the day or night. We are faith based and use biblical principles like the "golden rule" and the 10 commandments, for example. We encourage those on parole to follow all their parole stipulations and participate in all classes they are required to attend. We provide basic education on handling money and budgeting. We are implementing some basic classes to handle daily activities such as laundry, cooking, maintaining their living space, resumes, and putting a budget together. We provide information on having positive relationships with co-workers, the general public, and the opposite sex.
