Rest In Him, green pastures

There are times when we get discouraged…

There are times when we get discouraged and weary of the deceit that pervades our lives.  When we find ourselves faced with the deception, we are angered and frustrated.  Once those emotions are spent we are sad, and want to give up.  The Word of God, however, says in Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV).    “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Isaiah 40:29–30 (NIV) tells us  “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”

So we hope and we rest in “green pastures” as our shepherd “restores our souls”(Psalm 23: 2-3) filling us with courage and perseverance and saying “be strong and courageous for I am with you” (Joshua 1:9) and “do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand,” (Isaiah 41:10)
After spending time with the Master Shepherd listening to His word, we are ready to move forward, engaging in the battle, and letting His love shine through us to others who are weary and tired fighting their own battles.
